CSUEU Chapter 318 San Diego

After serving its members as a division of the California State Employees Association for more than 70 years, California State University Employees Union incorporated in 2004 as its own Non-profit mutual benefit corporation. An affiliate of CSEA and SEIU,  the California State University Employees Union represents staff members who support the California State University’s 23 campuses as well as the Office of the Chancellor. Our Union represents 16,000 CSU support staff – working in four distinct bargaining units – covering the academics and operations of the CSU, including information technology, healthcare, clerical, administrative and academic support, campus operations, grounds and custodial.

Local Chapter 318 represents around 1,000 San Diego State University Employees. We are one of the larger chapters within the CSUEU. We work in solidarity with our CSUEU leadership, the other CSUEU Chapters, and other local unions to maintain the integrity of our contract and continue to work towards better wages and working conditions.

The achievements of the CSUEU have been the result of the dedication, imagination, and hard work of our chapters, bargaining units and staff members. I thank them all and invite you to join us in our vision for a better California.

Our Purpose, Focus, & Vision

Purpose:

At CSUEU Chapter 318, our purpose is to empower and unite the staff, administrative, and technical employees at SDSU. We strive to promote the well-being of our members by providing them with a strong collective voice that advocates for fair wages, equitable opportunities, and safe working conditions. We are dedicated to fostering a supportive work environment that enables our members to excel in their roles, contributing to the success of the entire CSU system.

Focus:

Our primary focus areas include:

  1. Collective Bargaining: We negotiate robust contracts that protect and enhance the rights, benefits, and working conditions of our members.
  2. Member Representation: We offer guidance, support, and representation to members facing workplace challenges, disputes, or grievances.
  3. Professional Development: We invest in the growth and development of our members by providing access to workshops, training, and resources that enhance their skills and knowledge.
  4. Advocacy: We actively engage in promoting policies and legislation that positively impact the CSU system and the interests of our members.
  5. Community Engagement: We build strong relationships within the CSU community and beyond, fostering a sense of belonging and promoting collaboration.
